Snakes surface in AP govt hospital

Hyderabad: Almost a month after a 10-day-old baby died after being bitten by rats in a government hospital in Andhra Pradesh, two snakes surfaced in the same hospital.

The snakes were found in the operation theatre and radiology department in Government General Hospital in Andhra’s Guntur district.

While one snake was spotted in radiology lab, another was found in an operation theatre, where a surgeon came out running seeing the reptile and refused to operate the patient.

The incident was reported almost a month after a baby died after being bitten by rats in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the government-run hospital in Guntur town.

The boy was born to a woman named Laxmi on August 17 at Vijayawada.

He was shifted to Guntur for a surgery after developing some health complications and afterwards, placed in the ICU.

Taking strict action, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had ordered suspension of three officials.
