Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched an integrated data collection system for monitoring of national highways. The system will collect and maintain information of the nation’s road assets with the help of laser technology.
Gadkari said the system will help to develop an accurate and scientific maintenance plan for national highways and also be helpful in finalizing road safety measures.
“At present, we will have data from around 3000-kiolometers of highways through this system, and in future, the government will be able to collect data on 96000 kilometers of highway network,” Gadkari said.
He further said the government also intends to create highway villages that will have amenities like restaurants and shopping avenues on the both sides of the national highway. (ANI)
