Now, Jail inmates to play bands in marriages

Lucknow, July 13 : In an effort to show right path to the jail inmates, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to train them with band playing skills for a better future.

In an innovative step, the state government has appointed band trainers for the prisoners at Adarsh jail in Lucknow.

Inspector General (Prison) Sulkhan Singh today told UNI that ”currently, the arrangement is being done for the inmates at Adarsh jail. Later, on getting good response it would be applied at other prisons too.” Of the 290 jail inmates at Adarsh prison, the one with good behaviour would be selected to undergo the band training, he said.

The training would help them to make a living by playing the bands at marriage celebrations after the release, he added.

The Adarsh jail is, meanwhile, scheduled to be shifted at Mohanlalganj, where as many as 600 prisoners could be occupied, the IG informed.
