Hanuman temple priest rapes 7-year-old girl in Ajmer’s temple

Ajmer: A 7-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a temple’s priest in Rajasthan’s Ajmer. The shameful incident comes into light days after tragic Kathua rape-cum-murder inside temple premises and rape of a differently-abled girl in Chattisgarh’s Dhamtari District by the temple priest.

The incident occurred when the minor girl on Monday was gathering the livestock, grazing near the Kalichat Hanuman Temple. Identified as Swami Shivanand alias Balwant, the 48-year-old priest allegedly tricked minor into the temple and raped her, leaving her unconscious thereafter.

When girl’s father came looking for her, he found her in an unconscious state inside the empty room. The 7-year-old narrated the ordeal to her father after she regained consciousness, reported India.com.

On the basis of her parents’ complaint, the police have registered a case under the provisions of Protection of children from sexual offence (POCSO) Act and arrested the priest. The girl has been moved to a hospital for treatment and medical examination.

The temple priest Shivanand belongs to Madhya Pradesh and is serving as the priest of Kalichat Temple for last 10 years. The locals alleged him to be a questionable figure.
