Now foreigners can register at Begumpet airport

Hyderabad, November 10: The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) established at the old airport in Begumpet has begun its operations. The FRRO was set up at the Rajiv Gandhi terminal after registration and immigration functions were taken over by the Bureau of Immigration of the Union ministry of home affairs.

Foreigners Regional Registration officer BV Ramana Kumar said foreigners who come to stay in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerate limits can register themselves at the FRRO’s office. However, people from Pakistan and Bangladesh should register themselves with the joint commissioner of police office at Purani Haveli in the Old City. For those wanting to reside in the Cyberabad police limits, they have to register with the Cyberabad police commissioner office at Gacchibowli.

Ramana Kumar said the FRRO would function from 9.30 a.m to 6 p.m from Monday to Friday except on declared national holidays. Kumar also said foreign nationals, apart from getting registrations and obtaining residential permits, can also apply for Indian visa extensions, exit permits and PIO/OCI cards.
