Ludhiana, Nov 11: In order to combat the power crisis and also to lose the extra kilos, city-based industrialist Gurwant Singh has made an exerciser which can generate electricity as well. The model priced at Rs 18,000 is being sent by Punjab government to the India International Trade fair being held at Pargati Maidan in Delhi from November 14.
Singh said, “Magnetic coils have been been fitted in the battery attached in the fly-wheel of this exerciser and hence it works on simple principle that mechanical energy converts into electrical energy.”
Further he told, “If one cycles this exerciser for 80 minutes in a day (at one go or in parts), one can generate electricity for 8-10 hours which can run two fans and four tubelights. The generated electricity in the battery can be used through an inverter for any electrical appliance, but if it is to be used directly it can run the appliance of 12 volt load only.”
Gurwant spent a year to make this product, which has been named Bharti power cycle. He is a diploma holder in mechanical engineering and later he took advanced course in IIT, Delhi, before venturing into business.
Singh added, “These days, our state is fighting for power crisis and taking this in to consideration, I started working on this project. By using this product, the residents can keep themselves in good shape while getting electricity at the same time.”
