Now body-worn cameras for Gurgaon traffic cops

Gurgaon: Gurgaon police is equipping its traffic policemen with body-worn cameras, a senior officer said on Saturday.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from Honda is helping to equip the traffic policemen with small and rugged video cameras, which will be attached to the policeman’s uniform to capture video and audio recordings of incidents and violations.

These cameras, imported from the UK, have a powerful and easy to use evidence management software, which will greatly enhance road safety.

The cameras will help in improving citizen compliance with traffic regulations, documenting evidence, preventing and resolving complaints and accountability of Gurgaon traffic police.

A senior police officer said: “The two-inch front-facing colour screen camera improves transparency as the public can clearly see that they are being recorded.”

“It also helps the traffic policeman review the recording on the spot and show the traffic violation to the citizen,” he added.

Weighing less than 150 grams, the cameras allow full HD (1080p) video recording of up to 10 hours. They are easy to wear and can be clipped on to the uniform.
