Jammu: Police has arrested a notorious criminal and seized a double barrel gun and live cartridges in border belt of Jammu district, an official said today.
Acting on a tip off, the police raided a place and arrested Ashok Dingra alias Tillu from Phiner area of R S Pura tehsil yesterday, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R S Pura Surinder Choudhary said.
The police seized one double barrel 12 bore gun and 11 live cartridges from his possession, Choudhary said.
A major plot to kill a person has been averted with his arrest, he said, adding three cases, including two attempts to murder, have been registered against him in the Miran Sahib police station and one case in the Bishnah police station.
A fresh case under the Arms Act has been registered in the Miran Sahib police station, the official said.
