Notices to medical colleges, State in contempt case

Hyderabad, December 18: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice A.R.Dave and Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy on Thursday ordered notices to Deccan Medical College, Shadan Medical College, Principal Secretary Medical and Health, in a contempt case wherein it was alleged that they had not followed the guidelines framed by the High Court regarding the admission process.

The contempt case was filed by Minority Students Organisation (MSO) through K. K. Ansari. The petitioner said that the court in a judgement ordered that the sale and receipt of applications shall be permitted by post and Internet.

The petitioner alleged that the advertisements given by the colleges made it clear that the sale and receipt will be done only in person. The government and the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, had not acted at all, it was lamented. He sought a direction to punish the respondent contemnors under the Contempt of Courts Act. The bench ordered notices and adjourned the case to January 23.
