Hyderabad, April 08: Six pharma and chemical units have been issued closure/stop production orders by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) for violation of various norms.
The APPCB Task Force, which met here recently, took the decision. The board gave 48 hours to the units to comply with the orders.
The following are the industries on which action has been taken.
Vivin Laboratories, located at CIE Gandhinagar, Balanagar Expn, Rangareddy district, has been asked to stop production for not shifting the unit from the present location as agreed. The unit was given time till January 25 to shift its operations from the site.
Rishabh Resins and Chemicals, Jeedimetla, for forfeiture of bank guarantee of Rs 2 lakh for non-compliance of the Board directions.
Chromo Chem, Mangalpalli (V), Ibrahimpatnam (M), Rangareddy for not having pre-treatment facilities to treat chrome solid waste, stack attached to the wood/coal fired furnace is totally corroded and wood/coal fired boiler is not having any air pollution control equipment.
Theerdhaveeni Enterprises, HP Road, Moosapet, for operating the unit without CFE/CFO orders of the Board, not having any treatment facilities to treat the effluents generated from the electroplating activity, discharging untreated effluents outside the premises, not having any APC equipment and causing water and air pollution in the area.
Hexgon Drugs, Bollaram, for manufacturing unauthorised products, not having forced evaporation system and not accounting for forced evaporation salts.
Mahindra Industries, IDA, Kottur, for not operating the ETP and discharging effluents illegally.
A Surender Raj, joint chief environmental engineer (CPC) told Express that if the companies failed to comply with the Board orders, the APPCB will write a letter to the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL) to disconnect power connection.
