Nothing will come out of Srikrishna report: Venkaiah

Hyderabad, December 31: The senior national BJP leader, Mr M Venkaiah Naidu, on Thursday said that the recommendations of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee will be mere recommendations and nothing would come out of it.

Speaking to mediapersons here, the BJP leader pointed out that the Union government had never announced that it would implement the recommendations of the Committee and that was the reason why his party opposed the constitution of the committee on Telangana issue. Stating that the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report was not a court verdict and whether the recommendations were in favour of separate Telangana or not, State bifurcation was only possible through a political decision, he said, adding that there was no need to worry about the outcome of the report.

Stating that he was not against the sentiments of the people’s wish for separate State, Naidu appealed to the people not to criticize the people of the other region and vice versa. Stating that the Union and State governments were caught in uncertain conditions, Mr Naidu lamented that there was none in the ruling parties to apply their mind towards the problems of the people. Though the farmers in the State suffered irreparable loss on account of repeated natural calamities, there was no response from the government to their plight so far, he added.

The BJP leader said that while the Centre was behaving like a paralytic patient, the State government remained as a sick patient. Complaining that the FCI has not begun paddy procurement and did not even set up purchase centers, Mr Venkaiah demanded that the government procure 50 per cent of soaked and decoloured paddy without any cut.

The BJP national secretary, Dr K Lakshman, national executive member, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya, Mr Indrasena Reddy, the State BJP general secretary, Mr N Ramchander Rao, and others were present.
