Hyderabad, January 4: Leaders of various Telangana representative organisations made it clear on Monday that to give a communal turn to separate state issue it is being tried to give the impression that Muslims are interested in growth and development and they didn’t run an independent movement for separate state, despite the fact that there are no two opinions among Muslims on the issue of separate state. Central government should announce its policy decision instead of further delaying the matter.
Leaders of Telangana asserted that all pro-Telangana political parties should boycott the consultation meet on January 6, convened by the centre as Telanganaites accept nothing short of separate state.
Taking strong note on creating negative image of Muslims feelings by the committee members’ statement after submitting the report it was unanimously announced in the press conference that Muslims are also the part of Telangana state movement.
Major S M Quadri said ‘the views expressed by one of the committee members Dr. Abu Saleh Shareef regarding Muslims’ perspective are far from reality. Participation of more than 1 lakh people in a congregation held at Nizam College ground by Jamat-e-Islami is a testimony to the fact that Muslims want separate state. No doubt Muslims have talked about the development and hoped that their development lies in separate state as they had become victim of prejudice by Andhra leaders after Andhra formation.
Managing editor Siasat daily Mr. Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan said ‘each individual of Telangana desire for a separate state, we don’t need any testimony or certificate for it. Meeting convened by the home ministry on January 6 is a ploy to further delay the matter hence all political parties should boycott the meeting.
The leaders strongly condemned the comments made by the Srikrishna committee members which may create misunderstanding regarding Muslims’ point of view. Later Muslim leaders burned the effigy of Srikrishna committee member Dr. Abu Saleh Shareef.
