Nothing new in preference to locals in jobs: Kamal Nath

Bhopal: Under attack from various quarters for his announcement that only those industries that employ 70 per cent locals could avail incentives from the state government, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday said other states also have the policy of giving preference in employment to locals.

Kamal Nath told the media: “Such policy exists in other states too, including Gujarat. So, I have not said anything new. Locals should get preference (in jobs).”

Soon after taking oath as Chief Minister on Monday, Kamal Nath had told the media that his government would give concessions to those who invest in Madhya Pradesh provided they gave 70 per cent of the jobs to locals.

He had also said that people from other states like Bihar and Madhya Pradesh took away the jobs of locals.
