NEW DELHI: Activist GD Agarwal also known as Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand who was on an indefinite hunger strike since June 22 urging the ruling government to clean river Ganga, has died at 87 in Rishikesh’s AIIMS today.
Since 2008, this was his sixth indefinite hunger strike urging the Central government to protect river Ganga.
The noted environmentalist reportedly had a heart attack and was shifted to AIIMS yesterday after being on fast for 109 days.
