The Rachakonda Police Commissioner has detained a notorious gaming offender Kukkala Mahesh, 36, of Rajanagar, Uppariguda, Malkajgiri. Police said the accused was involved in 11 cases under Excise Act, Gaming Act, bodily offences since 2013 under Malkajgiri police limits. He was bound over under Section 107 CrPC as his unlawful activities are prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.
Police said the accused has been indulging in unlawful activities under Excise Act/Gaming Act/bodily offences creating fear and panic among the people and creating insecurity to the health of common public. He was selling ID liquor to the poor people ruining their health and wealth. Despite a number of cases were booked against him, he never stopped his illegal activities. He was running matka, satta gambling and making easy money. He also allegedly assaulted and threatened the public who asked him to stop his illegal activities. He also allegedly attacked Police personnel causing grievous injuries and obstructed them from discharging their legitimate duties.
He was earlier arrested and remanded to judicial custody in several cases. He was habituated to commit offences soon after his release from jail. Though, he served in jail, he did not change his attitude and continued to indulge in committing offences. All efforts to prevent him from indulging in criminal activities went in vain. He was convicted in a couple of cases and faced trial in six cases. As the culprit remained unchanged and continued criminal activities which are prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat, I.P.S., passed orders on Tuesday under Preventive Detention Act and detained him in Central Prison, Cherlapally. (NSS)
