Not taking Rajasthan lightly: Ganguly

Bangalore, March 20: They may have been the whipping boys of IPL-3 so far, but Sourav Ganguly is not taking the Rajasthan Royals lightly ahead of his side’s clash with them.

“I’ve always maintained that all eight sides are more or less evenly matched. I’m not changing that view. Twenty20 is such a short game that anything can happen. On its day, any team is capable of running away with the match,” the Kolkata Knight Riders captain was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

“The Royals may have lost all three games, but we won’t be taking our match lightly.”

Kolkata coach Dav Whatmore echoed his captains views.

“Nothing comes easy. The Royals haven’t been winning and everybody expects us to beat them. However, I don’t expect easy games,” Whatmore said.

The Knight Riders have been fortified by the arrival of Chris Gayle, who is likely to take the spot of Owais Shah in the playing eleven.

“I’m feeling pretty good and I’m looking forward to the game,” Gayle said. “Hopefully, my presence in the side should do good. We’ll soon get back to winning ways.”

Gayle was not to be drawn into comparisons of Twenty20s with Test cricket, having already drawn controversy over his comments after last year’s IPL.

“I’m not going back to the past. I don’t, at this point, wish to create a controversy.”
