Not Taken By-Polls Seriously: Naidu

Hyderabad, July 29: The TDP chief, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that he had not taken the by-elections seriously because of his party’s fight for the Babli project.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, the TDP supremo said that even the Politburo members had not concentrated on the by-elections. Stating that the elections were totally left to the lower level leadership, he said his party had contested as there was need to contest the elections, as a political party.

He also denied the allegations that the Babli fight was for votes and said he had never looked at the problem as a vote bank issue. The larger importance of people was given more prominence, he claimed. “Elections come and go. They are not new to the TDP”, he said.

Replying to a question, Mr. Naidu said the fight against Babli had given him satisfaction. If it could stop the illegal projects by Maharashtra, it would have given him more pleasure than victory in the elections, he claimed.
