Guwahati: Reiterating that allegations against him in the National Herald case were driven by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that not a single rupee can be taken out of National Herald which is a ‘not for profit’ company.
“What needs to be understood very clearly is that this company is not for profit. Not a single rupee can be taken out of this company by anyone.
Further on the issue of Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said that the Congress party has made it clear to the government that they have three issues in the bill which need to be sorted out.
“As far as the stalemate in the parliament is concerned, the impression being given is that we are not interested in the issue of GST. We have clearly stated our stance to the government, we have three issues on which we differ with them,” he said.
The Congress vice president had even earlier termed the National Herald Case proceedings as “political vendetta” coming out of the PMO.
