Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has seriously reacted to the criticism of the YSR Congress that the CBI was only harassing non-Congress investors in Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies and was allowing Congress leaders who had invested in Sakshi and other companies to go scot-free.
Talking to the media here, Lagadapati, who came here campaign for his party, has said that though his brother Lagadapati Sridhar had invested in Sakshi, he received nothing in return from the Rajasekhara Reddy government. He said the CBI was taking action only against those who had invested money in Jagan’s companies after receiving undue favours from the government in quid pro quo arrangements.
Lagadapati said that Jagan would surely go to jail in one month. He said his own party ranks would revolt against him. Stating that Jagan has no chance of becoming chief minister in his life time, he said that even if he became chief minister by accident, women would be constrained to sell off even their sacred ‘Thali Bottu’. He exuded confidence that the Congress would win majority of seats in the ensuing by-elections.
It may be recalled that the YSR Congress leaders were questioning as to why the CBI, which has arrested Nimmagadda Prasad for investing in Jagan’s companies had not arrested Lagadapati Sridhar. He explained that the CBI also probed into Sridhar’s investments and after checking all the records, the agency was satisfied that investments were not made for getting any pecuniary benefits from the late YSR government. He expressed displeasure that Jagan, who had made industrialists and other investors in his company go to jails because of his illegal activities was questioning why certain other investors were not arrested, instead of feeling sorry for those that were already arrested. “What kind of justice is this? The man who perpetrated corruption to the tune of Rs one lakh crores is moving about freely, while those who invested money in his companies are being incarcerated. Is this the justice Jagan is promising the voters? How can any one believe the man who made those who stood by him suffer, so that he could escape?” Lagadapati angrily questioned.
Lagadapati said that if a ballot was conducted, people of the entire State excepting Kadapa would overwhelmingly vote that Jagan should go to jail. Stating that he was ready to conduct such a poll, he said he was ready to do whatever Jagan asks him to, if the poll results turn out to be different from his own prediction. (NSS)
