Lucknow, May 13: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has held senior BJP leader L. K. Advani responsible for the rise of terrorism in India.
“If anybody is really responsible for terrorism in India, it is Advani and his rath yatra ,” Singh said at Moradabad’s Sir Sayyad Nagar Karula on Tuesday.
He was addressing a meeting held to receive a Congress rath flagged off by party general secretary Rahul Gandhi from Ambedkar Nagar on April 14.
Singh said it was unwise to blame the Muslim community for terrorist activities without proof. The Congress has entrusted the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister to win back Muslim votes.
“ There is strong evidence of Hindu terrorism in India.
Hyderabad’s Makkah Masjid blast and Malegaon blasts are examples that Abhinav Bharat, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh and VHP were involved in such activities,” he said.
Holding the right wing organisations, including the BJP, responsible for the rise of terrorism, he added: “ The maximum number of cases of Muslim atrocities took place during the BJP rule. They believed in a divide- and- rule policy which was propagated by the British in India.” Singh’s statements drew flak from the saffron brigade. VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia said Singh was defaming the Hindu community for Muslim votes.
