AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said that he did not accuse all Madrasas of spreading hatred.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Digvijay Singh said that his Tweet wherein he said there was no difference between Madrasas and Saraswati Shishu Mandir Schools run by RSS as both spread hatred, was not a generic statement. He said he had referred to some Madrasas which teach fundamentalism and hatred. He said 97% Muslims do not admit their children in Madrasas and only a few Madrasas were being misused to promote fundamentalism. However, he alleged that all Saraswati Shishu Mandir Schools run by RSS were promoting hatred against Muslims and other minority communities.
Digvijay Singh said that the Congress was a secular party and it would fight against all forms of communalism in the country. He also accused a section of media of being biased towards Muslim community. He said 11 ISI agents, who were recently arrested in Madhya Pradesh, were all Hindus and four them of were BJP workers while one was AAP activist. He said that the national media did not cover the news properly as those arrested belonged to the majority community. He said that the arrests would have got extensive coverage if the ISI agents would have been Muslims.
The Congress leader claimed that his party was for empowerment of Muslims and therefore, it provided 4% reservation to the community in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and also in other States. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was not serious on giving 12% reservation to Muslims in Telangana State.
Digvijay Singh also alleged that the Telangana Government was being run just by KCR family. He reiterated the allegation that TRS Government was resorting to large scale corruption by escalating the cost of irrigation projects and causing deliberate delays. He said that the KCR Government has failed on all fronts and it turned a revenue-surplus Telangana into a bankrupt State.
Earlier, Digvijay Singh participated in the TPCC Coordination Committee meeting and held discussions on various issues. He informed that he would be attending the Congress Legislature Party meeting to be held on 9th March. Further, he asked TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to finalise the constitution of new DCC and mandal-level committees by March 30.
When asked for reaction on speculations about suspension of Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkatreddy from the party, he described them as baseless rumours. He said all the leaders in Telangana Congress were working unitedly and the differences, if any, were being sorted out amicably.
TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy, K. Jana Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Balram Naik, V. Hanumantha Rao, Madhu Yashki Goud and Mallu Ravi were also present. (INN)
