Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday urged the people of the state to resist the nefarious designs of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh against the Left Front government in the state.
“They will turn India into a theocratic state. They will decide what one will eat, wear or with whom one makes friendship with. In the name of ‘gau rakshak’ (cow protectors), they are creating lot of troubles. They are trying to create such an atmosphere here,” he said while addressing a Centre of India Trade Unions (CITU) rally at Vivekananda ground here.
He also alleged that RSS, BJP and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPTF) are conspiring to defeat the pro-poor Left government n Tripura, which is pursuing an alternative path.
Sarkar, who has been the Chief Minister of Tripura since 1998, also called upon the attendees to take a lead role in the formation of the Left Front government for the eighth time in the state with increased number of votes and seats.
The chief minister, while accepting that his government may not have solved every problem in the state, he emphasized that his government had never taken any initiative which was against the people of the state.
