“I had not accepted PM’s post on my son’s advice” – Naidu

Hyderabad: CM of A.P. Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu got overwhelmed with emotions while addressing the last meeting of A.P. Legislative Council in Hyderabad. He claimed that he had 38 years association with Hyderabad City. He recalled that on the advice of his son Lokesh, he had not accepted the post of Prime Minister of India. He told that he was elected to A.P. Assembly at the age of 28 years in 1978. Before getting elected to the Assembly, he had already visited the place and had seen his seat in the Assembly. On his election to Assembly for the first time he had requested CM of A.P. Dr. M. Chenna Reddy to appoint him as Minister. He laughed at him and neglected his wish on account of his young age. In 1980, he was inducted into A.P. Cabinet as Minister of Cinematography. During shooting of films, he had met Mr. N.T.Rama Rao and had advised him to join politics.

On the occasion of his 35th wedding anniversary, he told that he did not demand any dowry with his father in law. He recalled that he has an unstinted association with Hyderabad City. He further said that as CM of A.P. he is leaving Hyderabad but as the Chief of TDP, he would continue to visit Hyderabad. He also recalled that at the time mustering support for making Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he had convenced the then PM of India, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee and other allies of NDA. He clarified that after communal riots of Gujarat, he had demanded for the removal of Mr. Narendra Modi from the post of CM but after Modi became PM, he already clarified this issue to him.
