Normalcy returns in Pattan town

Srinagar, March 02: Normalcy returned today to violence-hit villages of north Kashmir”s Pattan town where curfew was imposed on February 25 after clashes broke out between two sects of Muslims.

Shops and business establishments reopened after remaining closed for five days at various places in Baramulla and Budgam districts as the curfew was lifted last evening, officials said.

The curfew was imposed on Thursday last following clashes between two sects of Muslims over erecting of a hoarding of a spiritual leader at Hagarpora-Qungamdara in which 20 persons were injured and scores of houses and shops damaged.

Meanwhile, business activities also resumed in rest of the Kashmir valley this morning after a day”s strike called by hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference against alleged destruction of houses in Sopore by army during a four-day encounter with militants.
