Normal life was affected in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States today due to rise in temperature. As many as 225 people lost their lives so far — 147 in Telangana and 78 in AP. People living on streets are the worst-affected.
Heat wave conditions have been sweeping the Telangana state for the past four days with all ten districts recording day temperatures of at least 42 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad recorded 44 degrees at 9.30 in the morning itself on Friday. The maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 45 degrees in some parts of Hyderabad. Temperature at Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Ramagundem soared to 47 degrees at 9:30 on Friday. Meanwhile, the Met office here has issued heat wave warning in the state for the next three days.
The streets in most towns and cities looked deserted as people preferred to remain indoors to escape the sweltering heat. The cool drink shops, sugarcane and other fruit juice vendors and coconut sellers have been doing brisk business.
India Meteorological Department has said in its Daily Weather Report of Telangana State today that Weather has been dry over Telangana. Severe heat wave to heat wave conditions prevailed over some parts in the districts of Adilabad, Warangal, Hyderabad, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad Karimnagar of Telangana.
The Maximum Temperature of 47 deg Celsius was recorded at Khammam, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Ramagundam. The temperature recorded at other places are Adilabad 45, Hanmakonda 45, Hyderabad 44, Khammam 47 Mahabubnagar 45 Medak 43Nalgonda 47 Nizamabad 47 Ramagundam 47. (NSS)
