Hyderabad, January 26: Various reports are coming to the fore, regarding appointment of non Urdu teachers in Maulana Azad Nation Urdu university. It the reports are true then it is surely being tried to end Urdu as a medium of instruction. There is no dearth of Urdu knowing highly educated and experienced teachers despite that why non Urdu candidates are being appointed? This act of university is synonymous to injustice towards Urdu and playing with the future of Urdu students.
This is also seen that such minority officials are given power and authority who damage the minority character, minority culture and other values from behind the scene. Knowledge of Urdu is a must for every appointment in the university but surprisingly the university has appealed UGC and Human Resource development ministry to exempt the candidates from this condition. Is this request fitting to maintain the Urdu character of the university?
The list of the selected candidates has not been put up and the selections have been kept in secret. This puts a question mark on the transparency of the Urdu university.
3 years ago interviews were conducted to fill the post of director of media centre, but the then vice chancellor Prof. MA Pathan, ignoring the candidates having outstanding record, appointed his close friend, a non Urdu retired person.
Last year in the month of October interviews were conducted for the post of professor in Mass communication. The only Urdu knowing candidate with 3 decades experience in the field was rejected and the present Vice chancellor Prof. Mohammad Mian appointed a Telugu knowing, retd. Professor for the post.
Are these not the worst examples of nepotism and injustice towards Urdu knowing candidates?
