Dead bodies pile up in the front area of Osmania hospital mortuary waiting for municipal vehicle to pick them up for shifting. Osmania hospital mortuary cold room has a capacity of only 40 bodies but 140 bodies have been piled up at the front area of the morgue. One would astonish as to why so many bodies have been piled there. What is the purpose behind it? Who is behind this inhuman attitude? Why the NGO to which Municipal corporation has assigned the work of shifting the bodies has not lifted the bodies for two and a half months? Do they want the in-patients of Osmania hospital to get sicker?
On investigation it was found that GHMC pay Rs. 700 to Satya Harish Chandra Foundation for cremation of each body. But the NGO deliberately delays cremation of bodies. The person who runs the foundation goes to rich marwadi Seths and tells them that a number of bodies of our community are putrefying in the morgue. Saying thus he collects lakhs of rupees from Marwadi and Hindu businessmen. Thus he is carrying out trade on dead bodies and this is continued for years. But the main question is why GHMC is not taking any action. Because of criminal negligence foul smell spreads in an around hospital which may affect the health of visitors and hospital workers. This NGO collects Rs. 50 for showing the photos of bodies to their relatives.
The need of the hour is government should conduct high level probe to unearth the scandal and take strict action against the NGO which is striking gold by doing business on dead bodies.
