The role of police, their tone and tenor of dealing people is playing a major role in creating a gap between the police and public.
In many cases, after lodging a complaint, citizens have to make rounds of the police stations for seeking redressal. The citizens who already incur financial losses are being further victimized by police.
Some such incidents occurred in the jurisdictions of Shahmeerpet and Chaitanyapuri Police Stations recently. There was a fight going on between a car driver and a rickshaw puller in the fruit market of Kothapet yesterday. It was being witnessed by Salman (21) resident of Hakeempet, Toli Chowki and others. The Rickshaw puller suddenly fell on Salman. Meanwhile, the care driver assaulted Salman and fled away. Salman’s nose started bleeding. He went to the police station for lodging a complaint. When the policemen saw the stains of blood on his clothes, they sent him to hospital with a letter. His relatives gave a written complaint also which was not registered in the police station.
When his relatives contacted the police station Chaitanyapuri, they told them that there no such complaint has been registered in the police station. The injured youth was wandering late till evening for seeking justice.
Another incident occurred in Shahmeerpet police station area. It is reported that some miscreants looted the businessmen of Siddipet after a deadly attack. These youths are also making rounds of police station for seeking justice. These youths were called by Shahmeerpet police station staff. They were detained in the police station for many hours. They were victims but police treated them like criminals.
Police inspector of Shahmeerpet, Mr. Reddy told that the details of these affected business are being sent to DCP’s office. Such a statement of a police officer is very strange. Police must mend its ways and it should try to get closer to public by their polite behaviour.
