A Non-Bialable Wattant issued against Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s International acting President Pravin Togadia by the Ahmedabad Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
The warrant includes Bharatiya Janata Party’s sitting MLA and 36 others for not appearing in an attempt to murder case of 1996. Interestingly, the complainant in the case is BJP’s former MLA Jagrupsinh Rajput.
During a BJP party meeting held at the Sardar Patel Stadium on May 20, 1996, Shankersinh Vaghela and Keshubhai Patel supporters clashed with each other. Keshubhai’s supporters, called as Hajuria, stripped the dhoti off senior BJP minister Atmaram Patel, who stood by Vaghela.
The case is pending in the court since 1996. The BJP government in Gujarat had recently filed a request to quash the case, but the Sessions court had rejected the same.
