Non-bailable arrest warrant to Dhoni

The Anantapur District & Sessions Court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Friday.

It may be mentioned here that “Business Today” magazine had published Dhoni’s photo as Lord Vishnu with slippers in his hand. Taking a serious exception to the caricature of Dhoni as Lord Vishnu, the Vishwa Hindu Parishat district vice-president Shamsundar field a criminal case in the Anantapur District & Sessions Court against the publisher of “Business Today” magazine and the district court had issued summons to the magazine, Dhoni and editor Chitanyacallbag to attend the court. Though Dhoni had received summons, he neither appeared before the court nor did not care to file an affidavit through a lawyer.

Consequently, the court took it as a contempt of court and issued a non-bailable arrest warrant to Dhoni. The district court has ordered Dhoni to appear before the court on February 25. If Dhoni failed to appear before the court, police would arrest Dhoni and present him in the court. (NSS)
