The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday too witnessed uproarious scenes with the Congress, TRS and BJP members from Telangana and Seemandhra TDP legislators stalled the proceedings of the House to press their demands.
Soon after the House met at 9 am, Speaker Nadendla Manohar announced that all notices of adjournment motions given by Opposition members have been disallowed. Reacting to the announcement, the Congress, TRS and BJP members from Telangana and Seemandhra TDP legislators stormed the Speaker’s podium and disrupted the proceedings. Telangana ministers and Seemandhra Congress legislators stood at their places and registered their protest. The House reverberated with full throated slogans by the Telangana legislators like “CM Down Down” and counter slogans by Seemandhra MLAs.
To restore calm, the Speaker adjourned the House at 9.04 am for an hour. Noisy scenes echoed even after the House reassembled. When his appeal to the agitating members to return to their seats and cooperate with the Chair in the running of the House smoothly did not work, the Speaker adjourned the House for second time for another one hour.
The noisy situation remained unchanged even after the House reassembled at 2 pm. Appealing to the agitating members, the Speaker urged them to properly utilize the time extended by the President and send their opinion on the draft Telangana Bill. When there was no positive response from the members, Nadendla Manohar announced that Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting would be conducted at 2.30 pm today and asked all the floor leaders to attend it. Later, he adjourned the House to meet at 9 am on Wednesday. (NSS)
