Nobody has power to scrap reservation: Nitish Kumar

Gaya: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asserted that no one in the country has the power to abolish reservation provision.

Addressing his party’s, Janata Dal-United (JDU), Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe workers here on Wednesday, Kumar said: “No one in this country has the power to scrap the provision of reservation. We will sacrifice whatever may be required if needed, but no one has the power to scrap reservation.”

Dwelling on the issue, the Chief Minister said the marginalised section will not be able to uplift itself in the society without reservation. “If there won’t be reservation then how will those at the margins come to the mainstream?” he emphasised.

He also spoke about policies and schemes introduced by his government for the welfare of minorities, backward classes and weaker sections of the society. The event was attended by JD(U) national general secretary and Member of Parliament RCP Singh, state minister Ramesh Rishidev and legislator Abhay Kushwaha.
