New Delhi : Describing Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder-president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N T Rama Rao as a ‘multi-faceted person’, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Monday said if the former doesn’t deserve the prestigious Bharat Ratna then nobody does.
“He wanted the human beings to rise and his concentration was more towards Telugus, who were not able to come forward, not able to eradicate poverty… So, he came and helped them, gave them political power. If he doesn’t deserve the Bharat Ratna then I don’t think anyone deserves the Bharat Ratna,” Raju told ANI here.
“We have plenty of memories. We have good fortune of working together. He is much senior to me in age. He was a multi-faceted person. He was very simple,” he added.
Politicians, film industry stalwarts and fans of legendary Telugu actor NT Rama Rao on Monday took to Twitter to pay tributes to the megastar on his 20th death anniversary.
The TDP had earlier urged the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour, on NTR. (ANI)
