No word from HC to Jagan, Yatra will go ahead on schedule: Ambati

Hyderabad, August 23: As expected, YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy will defy the Congress High Command and go ahead with his Odarpu Yatra in Prakasam district from September 3.

According to suspended PCC secretary Ambati Rambabu, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will embark on the Odarpu Yatra a day after the first death anniversary of his father and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The High Command had on Saturday issued a warning to the MP that he would face disciplinary action if he defies the directed which was issued in unambiguous terms by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Mr Rambabu told media persons that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has not received any communication from the High Command over its latest directive, telling him to not to undertake the Yatra.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi had asked Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to console the families of those who died after hearing the shocking news of YSR’s death by assembling them at one place in each district.

Ms Gandhi had also suggested that the compensation being paid to the kin of those who died following YSR’s death come from the Congress party and not from Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s pocket.

Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has maintained that the Odarpu yatra is his personal duty towards his father and he could not compromise on this. He also has maintained that he had sworn to visit the families of all the people who had died of shock following his father’s death.
