No way to keep watch on IS’ encrypted online communications, warn US officials

United States officials have warned that there is no way to keep a watch on Islamic State’s (IS) online encrypted communications as it continues spreading its propaganda and

recruiting messages to at least 2,00,000 people on social media across the globe.

According to Fox News, Michael Steinbach, head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division said that some companies build their models of business around “end-to-end encryption”.

The officials said that technology was complicating efforts to monitor several thousand IS’ propagandas.

Steinbach said he was concerned that evolving technologies were outpacing laws that allow law enforcement to intercept communications by suspects. (ANI)
