Bhadrachalam, April 11: Over 10,000 devotees from various parts of the country who reached the temple town to witness Sitarama Kalyanam and Puskarapattabhisekam to be held on April 12 and 13 are suffering due to lack of accommodation.
The temple authorities have utterly failed in keeping their word of improving accommodation in Bhadrachalam, devotees said.
This year Sitarama Kalyanam falls together with Puskarapattabhisekam, an event that occurs once in 12 years.
The officials had earlier announced that arrangements were being made to provide accommodation to around 15,000 pilgrims.
However, accommodation was ready only for around 1,000 until this evening.
With the festival only two days away and thousands of devotees from different parts of the country thronging here to witness the celestial wedding, confusion prevails.
The devotees complained to the district collector who visited the temple town today about lack of accommodation and supply of drinking water.
They said that the temple authorities had failed to keep their promise of arranging 1.50 lakh square feet of accommodation to common devotees.
The officials also did not supply drinking water to the devotees today.
To add to their worries are the unscheduled power cuts.
Though the APTransco officials had announced that they would supply power round the clock till the festival concludes, there has been no proper supply since Saturday morning.
There are also no temporary lavatories for the huge number of pilgrims coming in.
The pilgrims said that the officials have conducted four review meetings for providing accommodation and other facilities but they have not realised their decisions in practice.
