Television sets without Set Top Boxes (STBs) would go blank from April in 38 cities including Hyderabad, under the second phase of digitisation. Indian Broadcasting Federation (IBF) said that the government claimed 67 percent digitisation had been achieved in these places. The deadline was given till March 31 to install Set Top Box, failing which the TV sets will go blank from April 1.
The 38 cities where Set Top Box has been made mandatory include Agra, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Howrah, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kalyan-Dombivli, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Meerut, Mysore, Nagpur, Nasik, Navi Mumbai, Patna, PimpriChinchwad, Pune, Rajkot, Ranchi, Sholapur, Srinagar, Surat, Thane, Vadodara, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.
