Education Minister Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy has admitted that 7.2 per cent of Government Schools in Telangana State have no toilets for girls.
He was replying to a question raised by Congress MLA DK Aruna on Friday during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly. He said of 28,982 Government Schools in the State, as many as 2,122 schools are not having toilet facilities for girls. He informed that 1,520 girls toilets are being constructed by utilising the funds of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in 1,356 schools in five districts of Telangana. Further, it is planned to cover the remaining schools under “Swachh Vidyalaya Programme” of Central Government. (INN)
