TS government on Thursday scrapped the Motor Vehicle tax on all three-wheeler contract carriages, three-wheeler goods carriages, all passenger auto rickshaws (four-seven seaters), agricultural tractors and trailers.
Pending tax arrears of Rs 76.26 crore also waived up to the period of June 30 2014.
Following representations from farmers, autorickshaw unions and other goods carriage owners and drivers during the elections, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had promised to scrap the MV tax.
A detailed report was submitted by the transport commissioner and requested the government to think about writing off accumulated arrears from levy of MV tax to an extent of Rs 76.26 crores up to the period of June 30 for the vehicles, to which the government agreed.
