Hyderabad: Director General of Police Mahendar Reddy today submitted a report to the Election Commission on the allegations made by the Opposition leaders that their telephones were being tapped by the Telangana police.
In his report submitted to State Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar, the DGP made it clear that telephones of no Opposition leader was being tapped. He also explained that the police will tap telephones of any person if warranted as per the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry for national security and defence.
He also made it clear that the police were not showing any discrimination in the checking of vehicles in view of the election code. He reiterated that the police personnel were functioning in conformity with the guidelines and orders of the Election Commission only.
