No society can progress by forgetting the good deeds of their ancestors – Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Those who forget the good deeds of their ancestors ruin themselves and those who continue the traditions of their ancestors and communicate them to the younger generation always lead successful life. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily during his presidential speech delivered on the occasion of Shaik Dawood’s Centenary celebrations held at Ravindra Bharati yesterday. He applauded the fact that the successors of Shaik Dawood is working to continue his art.

 

It may be noted that Mr. Shaik Dawood was a Tabla Maestro who earned international fame.

 

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also told that he is preparing his archives in which he would include the programs of Nawab Shujat Ali. It would include historical references and documents. This library would be dedicated to nation. Everybody can utilize its services.

 

He said that Tabla was invented by Hazrath Ameer Khusro. He used to play “Dhol” but he cut it into two pieces and said that “Tabla” also speaks. In due course tabla became popular.

 

Later Mr. Sarfaraz Husain who is the disciple of Ustad Basheer Nisar rendered his art on Tabla.
