No respite from the heat in northern India

New Delhi, April 06: Northern India had no respite from the heat today as daytime temperatures continued to stay above the normal with the mercury in Barmer touching 40.6 degree celsius.

The mercury also settled at 40.4 degrees in Kota in Rajasthan, the Met department said. Jodhpur had a high of 39.7 degrees and Jaisalmer 39.6 degrees. State capital Jaipur experienced a maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees.

In the national capital, the daytime temperature fell by 1.5 degrees from yesterday to settle at 37.2 degrees.

However, it still was two marks above normal, the Met department said.

The minimum in the metropolis was recorded at 23.6 degrees, up from yesterday’s 23.2 degrees and five degrees above normal.

In Himachal Pradesh, the weather continued to remain warm with the mercury settling at 24 degrees in the Queen of the Hills.

Sundernagar had maximum temperature of 33.
