No proof of Nayeem’s links with cops, politicos: Govt.

Hyderabad: The slain gangster Nayeem had no ties with police and politicians, the Telangana government told the Hyderabad High Court. It also revealed that a special investigation team (SIT) was investigating Nayeem’s activities and there was no need to entrust the investigation to CBI as so far no evidence is found that Nayeem is alleged to have had links with various Naxal outfits operating in other states.

CPI leader K Narayana had filed Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI probe into the matter. The CPI leader alleged that the investigation by SIT has not made any breakthrough in the case. He also alleged that many top senior IAS, IPS and politicians had ties with the gangster.

On this principal secretary to home Rajiv Trivedi, filed a counter-affidavit on behalf of the government in which he denied that SIT is trying to protect the alleged politicians and police who were linked with Nayeem. He said the petitioner failed to produce evidences on the basis of which investigations could be entrusted to CBI or any other investigative agency.
