Adilabad, January 20: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao has warned that Congress and TDP MLAs will have no political future in the region if they do not resign for the cause of separate Telangana. TRS MLAs who resigned from their posts were re-elected with double majority in the bypolls, he reminded.
He was addressing a public meeting in Nirmal today. The state government earns 70 per cent of its income from Telangana region but spends very a meager amount for development in the region, he charged. He accused Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal of doing real estate business on Muslim Wakf Board lands. He said that sentiment for separate Telangana was getting stronger with each passing day.
He reiterated that the TRS, if voted to power in separate Telangana, would make a Dalit the chief minister and a Muslim the deputy chief minister. Education from kinder garten (KG) to post graduate (PG) will be free for all in the new state. Tribals, he said, will enjoy 12 per cent reservation in separate Telangana as against the 6 per cent which they are having now. “Even muslims will also have 12 per cent quota in Telangana,” he added.
TRS MLAs from the district Aravind Reddy, N Odelu, K Sammiah and division in-charges were present. Several second-rung leaders of the TD and Congress joined the TRS in the presence of the party honcho. Those who switched loyalties included TD district vice-president Satyanarayana Goud, former MPPs, MPTCs and sarpanches of the party, and former Nirmal market committee chairman Linga Reddy of the Congress.
