No plan to build Ram temple in Ayodhya: UP Govt

After the Uttar Pradesh government’s call for a high-level meeting on Ram temple raised eyebrows, the state government was on Saturday quick to deny reports that it is planning to rebuild the temple in Ayodhya.

The reaction from the state government came shortly after reports suggested that the meeting is being called to discuss the rebuilding of Ram Temple on the lines of Somnath temple in Gujarat.

However, the state government said, “The meeting on Monday called by the Home Department is to review the situation on VHP call on October 18.”

Earlier reports had stated that Satish Chandra Mishra, the secretary to the UP government, had issued a letter to the senior government officials convening a meeting on Monday evening.

The meeting was being called to discuss the reconstruction of “Ramjanmabhoomi on the lines of the reconstruction of Somnath Mandir,” it stated.
