Mohammed Ahmedullah, Minister for Minorities welfare, Government of AP has represented to the regional Passport Officer Dr. K. Srikar Reddy for expeditious issue of Passport to the intending Haj Pilgrims for Haj 2012. Mohammed Ahmedullah told the Passport officer that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had made it mandatory for every Haj Pilgrim to travel on International Possport due to which the Haj Committee Of India had asked the Haj Applications to submit the copy of valid Passport with their applications.
He informed him that this year the Haj applications would be issued and accepted from March 1st till April 16th and no application would be accepted without the passport copy. He said that due to this condition innumerable applicants would face difficulties and disappointments.
The Minister thatked the RPO for the cooperation extended during past few years for issuing passports to the selected Haj Pilgrims who were not holding valid passports and expressed the hope that the Passport authorities would extend the same facilities this year also.
The Passpoet officer assured him to take appropriate measures for issuing passports to the applicant desirous of performing Haj this year. It may be recalled here that the chairman of the AP State Haj Committee Sri Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed and Executive officer Prof S.A. Shukoor had recently met the RPO and requested him for issuing passports to the intending Haj applicants at the earliest.
