Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Sunday clarified that the Telangana Government did not enter into agreement with Maharashtra over the height of Tummidi-Hatti barrage.
Replying to a query in Legislative Council during Question Hour, the minister accused the Congress leaders of spreading misinformation about the height of Tummidi-Hatti barrage. He said that the Congress leaders were alleging that the Telangana Government has reduced the height from 152 Metres to 148 Metres. He said there was no truth in this information.
Harish Rao said that the principal secretaries of both the States had a meeting on March 19 and they had no discussion on height. However, he said that the Telangana Government had appealed to the Maharashtra to accept the height of 152 Metres and the same is yet to be accepted. The Apex Committee meeting would be held soon to take a decision on project’s height. (INN)
