No need to postpone Assembly polls: JC

Former minister J C Diwakar Reddy has said there was no need to postpone the Assembly elections in the light of division of the State.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Diwakar Reddy said Macharla in Guntur district was the most suitable place to locate new capital for the residual Andhra Pradesh State. He said there are plenty of resources available to develop Macharla on par with Hyderabad city. He opined that the statement of TG Venkatesh calling for fight to make Kurnool as Seemandhra capital reflects his ignorance.
Reminding that he had said six months back that the Congress would lose its address in the State, JC said services of Kiran Kumar Reddy to the people of Andhra Pradesh were unforgettable. Referring to news stories in a section of the media, JC made it clear that it was not possible to postpone Assembly elections for six months due to bifurcation of the State. He advised the Seemandhra leaders to withdraw their lobbying for postponement of Assembly elections. There are enough natural resources in Seemandhra like in Hyderabad, he said. (NSS)
