Srinagar, November 15: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said there was no need for a fresh roadmap for resolution of the Kashmir issue.
“If there is really a need for a fresh roadmap, it is for withdrawal of troops from Jammu and Kashmir,” the chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat said in a statement here.
Referring to the statement of Centre’s interlocutors that they would come up with a roadmap for resolution of the Kashmir issue in a year’s time, Geelani said there was no need for this.
The exercise undertaken by the interlocutors was an attempt to buy time and ward off “increasing international pressure” on India, he said.
Apparently referring to UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, the separatist leader said the roadmap had been prepared long ago and India and Pakistan were a party to it.
