Hyderabad, May 20: Telangana Telugu Desam Forum convener E Dayakar Rao on Thursday said that the party should not discuss Telangana issue during Mahanadu scheduled to be held in the last week of May in the city.
Speaking to reporters at the TDLP office here, he said the TDP is still committed to its earlier stand which was mentioned in letter submitted to the Pranab Mukherjee committee.
“There is no need for the party to discuss Telangana at Mahanadu,’’ Dayakar Rao clarified.
He said party chief N Chandrababu Naidu had given full freedom for TDP cadres to take part in the Telangana movement along with the party flag and repeatedly clarified his stand on Telangana.
An extended meeting of the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum would be held on Friday where the leaders would discuss Padayatra programme which they plan to undertake from Hyderabad to Yadagrigutta on May 23.
The meeting would also discuss Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Hareeshwar Reddy’s public meetings on May 21 at Parigi in Rangareddy district.
Dayakar Rao alleged that the TRS has become a hurdle for continuing the Telangana movement under the banner of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC).
“In the first meeting of the TJAC, a resolution was passed declaring that the movement should continue without using any political party flags. But the TRS leadership did not stick to the resolution and started using party flags in the TJAC meetings,’’ he said.
He said the TDP is ready to take part in the movement without using party flag if all other political parties also follow the same.
